Der unterlebensgroße Kopf einer Frau trägt einen Schleier über ihrem Hinterkopf (sog. capite velato), der bis auf ihre Schultern hinabfällt. Ihr Haar ist mit einem feinen Band bekrönt. Unter dem Schleier sind große Ohrringe und die Konturen eines Haarknotens erkennbar. In den Pupillen und auf den Lippen sind rote Farbreste erkennbar.
Dieser Kalksteinkopf ist einer von mehreren hellenistischen Köpfen, die bisher im Heiligtum auf der Ostakropolis gefunden wurden. Insgesamt ist auffällig, dass, mit wenigen Ausnahmen, nur weibliche Köpfe dieser Art gefunden wurden. Angefangen mit den flachen, steif wirkenden Figuren der Archaik bis zu den griechisch anmutenden Figuren der hellenistischen Zeit, handelt es sich nahezu ausschließlich um weibliche Statuetten und Statuenfragmente aus Kalkstein oder gebrannten Ton. Dies stellt einen klaren Hinweis auf das Geschlecht der verehrten Gottheit dar, welche demzufolge ebenfalls weiblich gewesen sein muss.
English version:
The slightly smaller-than-life-size head of a woman wears a veil over the back of her head (known as a capite velato), which falls down to her shoulders. Her hair is crowned with a fine ribbon. Beneath the veil, large earrings and the outline of a hair knot are visible. Traces of red paint can be seen in the pupils and on the lips.
This limestone head is one of several Hellenistic heads that have been found in the sanctuary on the Eastern Acropolis to date. Overall, it is striking that, with few exceptions, only female heads of this type have been found. From the flat, stiff-looking figures of the Archaic period to the Greek-style depictions of the Hellenistic period, were discovered a wide variety of almost exclusively female statuettes and statue fragments made of limestone or fired clay. This is a clear indication of the gender of the venerated deity that has to be, therefore, a goddess.

Η κεφαλή μιας γυναικείας μορφής, ελαφρώς μικρότερη του φυσικού μεγέθους, φέρει ένα πέπλο στο πίσω μέρος της κεφαλής (το λεγόμενο capite velato), το οποίο καταπίπτει έως τους ώμους. Η κόμη συγκρατείται με λεπτή ταινία, ενώ κάτω από το πέπλο διακρίνονται μεγάλα ενώτια και το περίγραμμα συστάδας μαλλιών. Στις κόρες των ματιών και στα χείλη διακρίνονται ίχνη ερυθρής χρωστικής.
Η κεφαλή αυτή εντάσσεται σε σύνολο πολυάριθμων ελληνιστικών κεφαλών που έχουν έως σήμερα αποκαλυφθεί στο ιερό της Ανατολικής Ακρόπολης. Αξιοσημείωτο είναι ότι, με ελάχιστες εξαιρέσεις, πρόκειται σχεδόν αποκλειστικά για γυναικείες μορφές. Από τις επίπεδες και αυστηρές αποδόσεις της Αρχαϊκής περιόδου έως τις περισσότερο εξελληνισμένες μορφολογικά παραστάσεις, έχει ανασκαφεί ευρύ φάσμα ειδωλίων και γλυπτικών θραυσμάτων από ασβεστόλιθο και πηλό, που απεικονίζουν κατά κύριο λόγο γυναικείες μορφές. Το δεδομένο αυτό συνιστά σημαντική ένδειξη για τον χαρακτήρα της λατρευόμενης θεότητας, η οποία τεκμαίρεται ως θηλυκή.
